Our courses are suitable for anyone, whether you have little or no experience.

Plastering Course

The course covers the following practical skills:

  • Preparation of walls and ceilings to receive plasterboard and plaster
  • Cutting and fixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings
  • Apply bonding and sand and cement backing coats
  • Fix angle beads around windows and corners
  • Apply finishing plaster to backing coats, plasterboard etc.
  • Skimming to high quality professional finish
  • Re-plaster and patch on existing walls

You will work in a bay with a doorway and window and will plaster over plasterboard, rendered walls and ceilings.

Plumbing Course

The course covers the following practical skills:

  • Materials, tools and equipment
  • Basic understanding of hot and cold water system
  • Pipe-work and fittings
  • Installing a bathroom suite and shower
  • Fitting, draining, and moving radiators.
  • Fitting and repairing taps
  • Installing washing machines, dishwashers and garden taps
  • Basic understanding of heating systems

You will work in you own area, at your own speed and under the supervision of a trainer. You will fit baths, sinks, toilets and showers to a professional level. At the end of the course you will have a good working knowledge of a wide variety of plumbing methods and techniques, enabling you to approach any job with confidence.

Tiling Course

The course covers the following practical skills:

  • Materials, tools and equipment
  • Measuring and marking out before starting the project
  • Basic tiling, grouting and cutting
  • Precision tiling
  • Achieving a professional finish
  • Using silicone and sealants
  • Floor tiling
  • Estimating projects

Course Costs

1 day basic course with no qualification (£100.00)

4 day entry level 3 (£395.00)

3 week NOCN Level 1 award (£900.00)

You will work in a bay which is equipped with a bath, hand basin and toilet, allowing you practice in a real environment. At the end of the course you will have a good working knowledge of tiling methods and techniques, enabling you to approach any job with confidence.

HANDS ON TRAINING supplies all the tools and materials. You will need to wear sensible working clothes when on the course.

The courses are entirely practical, there will be no written work unless you require it yourself and your work will be assessed by your trainer.

At the end of the course you will receive a certificate accredited by the National Open College Network (NOCN) and have the skills to approach any project with confidence.

Our courses run every Monday - Thursday (Except Bank Holidays when the course will start Tuesday through to Friday).

Please note. The accreditation may need to be sent in the post up to a maximum of 8 weeks after completion of your course. In this situation you will be at issued an in-house certificate on completion.
